Monitor Project Risk Levels

  • Assess the project's overall, aggregate risk level
  • Prepare risk reports tailored to different stakeholder audiences
  • Communicate risk levels to key stakeholders consistently, not only when something has gone wrong

Beyond tracking individual risks, this final task is about stepping back and assessing the project's overall risk level — a single, aggregate read on how risky the project is at a given moment, not just a long list of individual entries in the register. That aggregate view is what lets a sponsor or steering committee make a fast, informed judgment about the project without reading the entire risk register themselves.

Reporting that risk level well means preparing reports tailored to different stakeholders — an executive sponsor and a delivery team need different levels of detail and different framing of the same underlying risk picture — and communicating risk levels to key stakeholders consistently, not just when something has gone wrong.

Study focus: this task closes the loop on the entire PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline — from the preliminary document analysis in Domain I's first task to this ongoing, aggregate risk-level communication in Domain V's last one, the five domains together describe one continuous cycle, not five disconnected phases.
